FACULTY BIOGRAPHIES

Louis F. Cesarone
B.S. Lock Haven University, M.Ed College of New Jersey

Louis F. Cesarone holds an M.Ed. from the College of New Jersey. He teaches health, physical education and wellness courses and will be serving as the summer programs coordinator. Prior to Fall 2008 he was a faculty member at Harrisburg Area Community College, a teacher and supervisor at Lancaster Country Day School, a sports and recreation consultant, and a local baseball coach. Cesarone holds the coaching record for the most baseball victories in the Lancaster Country Day School's history. A Philadelphia native, he has three children with his wife, Beth.

Heather DiMarino
B.S. Messiah College

Before arriving at Janus, Heather DiMarino taught second grade for 4 years in Stamford, Connecticut where she developed a teaching style centered on meeting students’ diverse needs. She recognized their needs through diagnostic study of each student and tailored her instruction accordingly. Growing up in PA, she returned in the summer of 2010 and was drawn to the mission and clear vision held at Janus. She is excited to work with Janus students and see the progress made by all students as they become lifelong learners.

Gladys Doddamani
M.S. Physics

Gladys Doddamani holds an M.S. in physics from Karnataka (India) University. Before arriving at Janus as a teaching assistant, she worked in India as a software quality tester, and on staff at the Sylvan Learning Center in Coatesville, Penn. She looks forward to a new, unique teaching experience with the students, parents, and faculty. "I like Janus because it is the best way to add value to my teaching experience, enhance my knowledge, and work with students, which is what I love to do," she explained.

Kimberly Gladys
B.S. Millersville University

After her experience at Janus as a temporary substitute, Kimberly Gladys knew that Janus was the perfect fit. She now teaches and tutors lower, middle, and upper division students. Following a variety of work experiences, Kimberly is happy to be in her chosen profession and is enthusiastic about all grades and subjects. "I love teaching all the students; it is such a joy to watch each individual grow and take strides, both large and small, towards becoming a lifelong learner."

Ginger Goudie
B.S. Millersville University

Ginger Goudie, originally from West Shore, Pa., teaches upper division courses. She is certified to teach secondary math areas, and enjoys teaching algebra in particular. "I enjoy seeing the students be successful, even in small ways. We're not going to immediately see huge changes, and those little successes can help them become more confident learners." She is married and has two children, a daughter and a son.

Eileen Harris
B.S. Penn State University, M.Ed. Millersville University

Eileen Harris has been at The Janus School since 1991. Her favorite aspect of The Janus School is, understandably, the students. "The most rewarding thing about teaching is seeing the students take control of their learning. When they start to believe in themselves and trusting the teachers, we see such great strides. They begin to learn how to learn." Harris, married and the mother of four, loves the diversity and unique traits each student brings to the classroom year after year. After her long tenure at the school, Harris sums up her experience succinctly: "I love it!"

Jay Keener
LSW, M.S.W. University of Maryland - Baltimore

Jay Keener, from Lancaster, is our school counselor at Janus. He assists in teaching socialization and communication courses, and works with students on both a group-based and individual level. Although he finds his work challenging, he also finds it a fulfilling, worthwhile investment with the changes he sees in the students on a consistent basis. "I like to see students change over time. I really like to see the progress — almost every student that comes here changes in some way. I like the challenges."

Christine Koslosky
B.A. State University of New York at Binghamton

Christine Koslosky’s teaching experience has been diversified and widespread. She has worked in many different schools on a variety of different assignments, mostly teaching secondary-level Spanish. She looks forward to her work as a teacher assistant at Janus and said, "it will be very gratifying to see the kids grow and learn." Her other interests include writing, theater, and finding the perfect soup recipe. A New Jersey native, she's well-traveled from her experiences working as an international flight attendant for American Airlines. Christine holds a BA from the Sate University of New York at Binghamton.

Cynthia Richter
B.S. The King’s College, M.Ed. Millersville University

Cynthia taught at an international school in Germany for 11 years prior to coming to Janus. She enjoys learning to know her students in order to uncover their academic needs and find the best ways to help them learn new material. She has taught and tutored students in both the upper and lower divisions of Janus. She recently earned the English as a second language program specialist certification. Cynthia grew up in Elizabethtown where she currently lives. She is married and has one grown son.

Jennifer Risser
B.S. Millersville University, M.Ed Millersville University

Jennifer Risser, a Lancaster native, began teaching at the school in 1999, working mostly with lower division students. She appreciates Janus for its utmost collaboration and respect among the faculty and staff, and enjoys the freedom of teaching Janus offers. "The staff is fantastic — the openness is wonderful. We can decide what and how to teach, and it's a completely supportive environment." Risser is a reading specialist and enjoys teaching language arts, in particular.

Gerhard Roman

Teaching assistant Gerry Roman has worked in various fields including a church/private school as well as in public education. Gerry stated, "I’m excited to be working with the Janus students and look forward to the opportunity to make a positive difference in the life of a student." Originally from Lancaster County, Gerry is married to Lori and they have two children. Outside of school, he enjoys pursuing his interest in Martial Arts and is pursuing a secondary education degree in social studies at Millersville University.

Debbie Staudt
B.A. Bucknell University
Millersville University, M.Ed

Debbie Staudt enjoys the challenge of teaching at Janus. She teaches mostly upper division, but is also a tutor for lower division students. She is a reading specialist who "gets a big kick" out of working with children to help them reach their highest potential. "The administration gives us a lot of freedom, it's not a strict curriculum, but we have standards we must achieve. We have a lot of leeway to teach as we need to." Staudt is a long-time Lancaster resident, married, with two daughters and a son.

Susan Thompson
B.S. Elementary Education, West Chester University

Susan Thompson doesn't play favorites when it comes to teaching — she enjoys teaching every subject and any student. With two sons ages 4 and 7, and lower division students, she has extensive experience with younger children. Thompson also tutors upper division students. She enjoys seeing children prosper in spite of their struggles. "[I like] seeing the students do things they never thought they could do, socially and academically."

Barbara Tritt
B.A. East Carolina University

Barbara Tritt has been at Janus since 1996. In that time she has been a Trustee member, tutor, our Director of Development, and is now helping as a teacher's assistant. "My motivation at The Janus School comes from knowing that each student is doing what is the hardest thing for them to do — learning how to learn — every day. What could be more inspiring?"

RoseMary Walker
B.S. Millersville University, M.Ed. Penn State

RoseMary Walker, a long-time faculty member with Janus, teaches lower division courses and tutors students. She has previous teaching experience from the Eastern York School District, among other districts. She enjoys the flexibility involved with teaching students, and the dedication and cooperation of the Janus staff. "It's nice to see a child who comes in with a bundle of nerves, settle and relax, and learn to enjoy the learning process." Walker is married and is the mother of three grown children.

Maria Weaver-Hollowniczky
B.A. Writing and Biology, Loyola College

Maria Weaver-Hollowniczky is thrilled to be the newest teacher assistant at Janus working with both lower and upper division classes. She holds a B.A. in Writing and Biology from Loyola College in Maryland, and is excited that Janus allows her to work in both the arts and the scientific fields. "I love that Janus does not wall off the creative from the factual or scientific. When students can merge Art or Music with Social Studies or Math, they are bridging disparate worlds—an incredibly valuable skill in our society." A proud Lancaster native, Weaver volunteers extensively with neighborhood initiatives, helps run a Girl Scout troop, and plays amateur roller-derby. She lives with her husband and six cats in Lancaster City.

Jill Weidman
B.S. Millersville University Art Education

After a friend encouraged her to explore Janus opportunities, Jill Weidman quickly discovered her teaching style fit in perfectly at Janus. She has taught both lower and upper division courses. With a background in art education, she helps foster creativity among Janus students. Her favorite aspect of teaching is watching the students successfully and independently transition after their Janus experience.
